Anti-Islamophobia training for SU officers

We’ve created an awareness programme aimed at equipping SU elected officers with a deeper understanding of Islamophobia and its impact within our movement.

As leaders in students’ unions, we're committed to fostering a more equitable environment - one where all students, officers and staff feel safe, and where we have the knowledge and skills to support our staff, officers and students in building inclusive spaces.

A key part of this journey is building the language, empathy, and confidence to identify Islamophobia, respond effectively, and come together to support one another in shaping more inclusive and equitable students’ unions and a fairer movement overall.

This training will cover:

  • Deepening understanding of Islamophobia and its impact
  • How to respond to Islamophobia with care and nuance
  • The wider context and intersecting issues we need to be aware of
  • How officers can play a proactive role in supporting individuals and amplifying Muslim voices
